Pear and Blue Cheese Crostini. Toasted crusty bread, with disintegrated blue cheddar, cut pears and toasted pecans. Completed with a shower of nectar = delight.

As I would see it, pears and blue cheddar are great flavor accomplices. The sweet smash of a flawlessly ready pear joined with salty, velvety, flavorful blue cheddar = ecstasy.

One of my preferred things for a straightforward canapé is to put a wedge of blue cheddar, close by some cut pears and wafers.

Toasted crusty bread, beat with disintegrated blue cheddar, cut pears, more disintegrated blue cheddar and toasted pecans. What's more, completed with a shower of nectar. Wow.

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf Ciabatta sliced 1/4 inch thick, or baguette
  • 8 ounces Blue Cheese crumbled
  • 2 pears sliced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
  • 3 tablespoons honey
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven by turning on the broiler.
  2. Slice the bread and pop it into a toaster for a light browning.
  3. Place the pieces of toast on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, smear the toast generously with blue cheese.
  4. Top with a thin (lengthwise) slice of pear, crumble on some more blue cheese and place it under the broiler until the cheese is bubbly.
  5. Remove the baking sheet and sprinkle on some chopped walnuts.
  6. Return to the broiler just long enough to heat the walnuts. Watch closely so the walnuts don't burn. This will only take a few seconds.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately drizzle with honey.
  8. Serve immediately on your favorite serving platter.
